Criminal Injuries Compensation

Criminal Injuries Compensation

If you are a victim of crime and have suffered injuries as a result of a crime.

you may be eligible to make an Application for Criminal Injuries Compensation pursuant to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Act 2003 (WA).

The Application should be submitted with all relevant supporting documents to the Office of the Criminal Injuries Compensation for its consideration.

Compensation may be awarded for physical injuries, mental or nervous shock, pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of income, medical expenses, travel expenses for medical treatment, and/or damage of items.

An Application for Criminal Injuries Compensation can be made for an incident that has been reported to the police regardless of whether the offender has been identified, charged or convicted of the offence.

An Application for Criminal Injuries Compensation must be lodged within three years from the date of the offence. However, if you require an extension of time to file a claim for Criminal Injuries Compensation then an Application for Extension of Time and the written reasons for the delay must be provided to the Office of the Criminal Injuries Compensation.

Perth Criminal Lawyers & Barristers can assist you in preparing your Application to ensure your Claim is supported with all relevant documents and thus obtaining the best outcome for your Application.
